As a new company, we spend a lot of time thinking about how to best lay the foundation for ourselves to thrive now, and long into the future. One of the major considerations for us is the regulatory environment for institutions in crypto. The regulatory climate has been heating up over the last few months, particularly from the U.S. law enforcement and regulatory bodies. There was the U.S. SEC guidance regarding token classification as securities, as well as the recent New York State Attorney General filing regarding Bitfinex’s alleged fraud. The message is clear, if an institution services U.S. citizens it must strictly comply with all relevant regulations. We believe that compliance is the path for longevity, so we’ve made this decision:
All users will be required to submit documents to verify their identity.
- Residents of these states in the USA will no longer be able to use GO.Exchange until the relevant licensing is complete, which we are currently working on in parallel.
- Citizens of these countries will no longer be able to use GO.Exchange.
If you have deposited any cryptocurrencies or other digital assets with us and you meet either of the above criteria, you have until before June 18th, 2019 to withdraw your balance. After that, you will lose access to your account. At which point, you’ll need to email [email protected] to coordinate a withdrawal.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, and we appreciate your understanding in the matter. We believe in building in the long term value for our users, and believe this is the best path forward. We are actively working to legally provide services to the list of states in the USA. If you need additional support through this process, you can contact [email protected] or submit a support ticket.
